Accusing AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal of taking u-turn twice on Sutlej-Yamuna Link Canal issue and claiming the right of Delhi and other states on river waters of Punjab, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today termed him the state’s “biggest enemy”.
Kejriwal is the “biggest enemy of Punjab” as he had taken u-turn twice on the SYL issue and claimed the right of Delhi and other states on the river waters of Punjab, he alleged.
“Due to the anti-Punjab stance adopted by AAP, its political graph is waning and the party will not be able to open its account in the upcoming assembly elections,” Sukhbir claimed.
A week after he raised the issue, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday challenged Aam Admi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal to prove that 40 lakh youth in the state were drug addicts.
Sukhbir Badal while terming Kejriwal as ‘Enemy of Punjab’ asked the AAP National convener to bring documents and prove his stand. “How can Kejriwal claim to be the well wisher of the state, when he was defaming our youth as drug addicts? Kejriwal should prove that on which basis he was quoting this figure when he had no prove of it”, he said.
The Deputy CM said that rather he conducted a survey and got dope test done during the Punjab Police recruitment to access the ground situation. “I spoke to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and held a discussion with DGP Punjab to conduct police recruitment through dope test and invited media houses to check the facts”, he reiterated his stand.
Notably, a week ago, Kejriwal has stated that 40 lakh youth were addicted to drugs and the ruling SAD-BJP alliance was responsible for the spread of the drugs nexus.
Addressing a press conference, the Deputy CM also cornered Kejriwal for taking U-turn twice on the issue of SYL canal. “Kejriwal has taken U-turn twice on the serious issue of SYL by claiming the right of Delhi and other states on the river waters of Punjab. Kejriwal was seeking votes from people by back stabbing and double crossing them on river water sharing”, he said.
The Deputy CM also said that there was a ‘tactical understanding’ between the Congress and the AAP, as a result of which they were fielding weak candidates to facilitate each other. “The AAP leaders were holding rallies in Jalalabad, Majitha and other places. Did they conduct a single rally against Capt Amarinder? Even when AAP government came to power in Delhi for the first time, they had joined hands with the congress”, he added.
Attacking the congress, Sukhbir Badal said that there was five to six parallel congress being run by its leaders, who were leaving no stone unturned to defeat Capt Amarinder Singh. “To add upon it, congress was readily accepting the ‘rejected material’ (shunted out leaders) in its Solid Waste Management Project being led by its chairman Capt Amarinder”, he maintained.
Sukhbir Badal also said that Kejriwal’s tall claims of fairness, honesty, good candidates and corruption free system was being pricked by its own leaders, who were leveling allegations of ticket selling and corruption in the party. “AAP would not be able to open its account in Punjab”, he said.
