School ‘thrashes’ 8-year-old over fee payment

sikhLUDHIANA: A 8-year-old boy was allegedly thrashed by a local school authorities in Lohara area on Tuesday for failing to pay fees. The boy’s parents, after getting a medico-legal report (MLR) from the civil hospital, have demanded an FIR be registered against the school authorities.
Kulwant Singh said his child was a student of UKG class and he was not able to pay school fees due to his illness. “However, the school authorities instead of talking to him regarding the same beat up my son and made him stand for the entire day ,” he said.
He further alleged that the boy was not even allowed to eat his lunch and the school authorities thrashed him so badly that he was crying till late in the evening.

Kulwant Singh said that he came to know about the incident when he went to pick his child from school.The boy was crying continuously and said that the teachers had beaten him up.”There were marks on my son’s body , including face,” he added.
Manwinder Singh Giaspura from Fight for Justice organization said, “This type of behavior should not be adopted with children especially by school authorities who teach the students principles of life.” Further he said that they will fight against the same till the time action is taken against the school authorities.

Cops at Daba police station said that they had received a complaint and the matter was under investigation.No FIR had been lodged till the filing of the report.
Meanwhile, school principal has refuted the allegations. He said the boy was having fever and the school called up the parents to take their child back home. He added that fees was a no issue as they had also not got fees for last year. “We have security cameras installed on school premises and one is free to check the CCTV footage. The student was not at all harmed in the school,” he added.
