A former AIADMK member was hacked to death outside a marriage hall at Katpadi on Sunday evening.

G.G. Ravi, who runs an engineering college in Vellore, was murdered when he was leaving after attending a wedding reception at a hall in Katpadi around 8.45 p.m.

P. Pakalavan, Superintendent of Police, Vellore, said Ravi was walking to board his car when the murder took place. However, it was not known who or how many were involved in the murder, he added.

In September 2015, there was an attempt to murder him by ‘Adhiradhi’ Maha alias Mahalingam, a life convict who was out on bail. He allegedly tried to kill Ravi by stabbing him but Ravi’s sons chased Maha and allegedly stoned him to death in full public view on Katpadi Road at Thottapalayam.
