A mobile phone call helped the city police to crack the mystery behind the murder of businessman’s wife, her daughter-in-law and their guest in posh Lajpat Nagar locality in Jalandhar on Thursday evening.

The victims were identified as Daljeet Kaur, 60, her daughter-in-law Paramjeet Kaur, 35, and Khushwinder Kaur, aka Neetu, 40 of Link Colony.

The conspiracy was allegedly orchestrated by Daljeet’s only son Amaninder Singh alias Shantu (40) and his woman friend Tejinder Kaur alias Ruby (29) of Jamsher. The plan was to kill Paramjeet only but it went wrong.

Singh had an illicit relationship with Tejinder since 2012 when she was an accountant in his factory near Sodal. Singh had even purchased a house in Rama Mandi for the woman in 2015 as latter was also living separately from her husband, employee in the same factory.

Amaninder was regularly visiting Ruby in this house. He wanted divorce from his wife Paramjeet for which he was pressurising the family members but they objected.

In December 2016, his mother Daljeet Kaur and her daughter even went to Tejinder’s house and exchanged heated arguments with her.

Police commissioner Arpit Shukla told this was the moment when Amaninder decided to get rid of his wife by killing her.
