Torn Ang of Sri Guru Granth Sahib found in Jalandhar canal

In yet another incident of alleged sacrilege, torn Ang of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, were found in a distributary of the Bist-Doab canal near Nahla village in Jalandhar on Saturday morning.
Princepal Singh, who spotted ‘ANG’ in the canal, claimed that he saw them while returning from the morning prayers at the local gurdwara.

Around 80 people have since gathered at the spot and are trying to collect all Ang. Prayers have also started at the spot. 15-20 youths have entered the canal distributary to recover more pages.
Police officials, including Amreek Singh Pawar, ADCP 2, are at the spot.

As news of the incident spread, hundreds of people gathered at the Kapurthala chowk in the city, raising slogans against the government. They demanded that perpetrators behind the incident be arrested at the earliest. Heavy police force has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
