Hoshiarpur: The district police today claimed to have solved the murder case of a retired ASI, who was found dead at Kana village in Sham Churasi three days ago.
HS Bhullar, SSP, said the deceased, Madan Lal, was killed by contract killers hired by his wife and two NRI sons as he allegedly used to harass them.
He said an SIT, headed by SP Amrik Singh Pawar, probed the matter and found that Madan was in depression and used to thrash his wife Nirmal Kaur and daughter frequently. His wife told her sons, Deepak and Prince Preet, both residing in Kuwait, about the matter.

All three then conspired to kill him. Deepak came to India from Kuwait, while his brother sent Rs 1.5 lakh to be given to contract killers, Rashpal Singh and Sukhdeep Singh. On June 15, Deepak called his father outside the village where Sukhdeep and Rashpal attacked him with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
Bhullar said they had booked all five involved in the conspiracy and arrested Nirmal Kaur, Deepak, and Sukhdeep.
Rashpal was absconding, while Prince Preet was in Kuwait, he said, adding that Rashpal was already facing trial in a case of double murder and was out on bail. The police are conducting raids to nab him.
