Operation Bluestar 1984 : Dr Subramanian Swamy wants Centre to apologise

Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Minister Dr Subramanian Swamy has advocated that the Centre seek unconditional apology from the Sikh community as an atonement for attacking the Golden Temple and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in 1984. This was disclosed by Damdami Taksal chief Harnam Singh Khalsa, who led a delegation to meet Dr Swamy to discuss various Sikh-related issues.

The delegation gave a memorandum to Swamy demanding the passing of a resolution of atonement for Operation Bluestar in Parliament. Other demands included implementation of the Anand Karaj Act, release of Sikh political prisoners, scrapping black list, returning rare documents “taken away” by the Army during Operation Bluestar from Sikh Reference Library etc
