Barnala: Dissatisfied with the police action in the murder case of Rajinder Kaur, who was killed over property dispute yesterday, her parents and relatives today held a protest by placing her body on the NH-64 (Sangrur-Bathinda) at Badbar village. They alleged that the woman was murdered by three persons — Baldev Singh, Kuldeep Singh and another unidentified person – but the police did not include the name of Baldev Singh in the FIR. The protesters lifted the body after more than two hours following an assurance by the police to book Baldev Singh.

Rajinder Kaur was allegedly murdered by the brothers of her husband Jaspal Singh. Her mother Balkar Kaur and brother Sukhwinder Singh along with other relatives led the protest. “The police deliberately let Baldev Singh off. It is injustice with us. We will again launch a protest if the police fail to book him,” alleged Sukhwinder Singh. A team of police officers from Dhanaula police station reached the spot. The matter was sorted out after the intervention of the village panchayat. “We have recorded the statement of the victim’s family members and started investigations against Baldev Singh also,” said Kuldeep Singh, SHO, Dhanaula.
