2 killed, 10 injured after car rams crowd in Amritsar

In a tragic mishap, two people were killed and around a dozen after the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze lost control, hitting an Esteem and an i-20 before ramming into the crowd that had come to see the annual mela Baba Darshan Singh in Ghanupur Kale village of Amritsar on national highway-1.
Those dead are Vandana Paytal and Ranjeet Kaur. A child, who is unidentified, is critical.

The driver of the Cruze has been taken to the Chhehertta police station.
The details of the accident were not clear till the filing of the report.
DCP Jagmohan Singh said, “Preliminary details are that an uncontrolled car hit vehicles and later entered a gathering. We are verfying the names of the injured.”
